Our Drive to Florida

The drive was long. 1478 miles in all, but we made it.
11:12 am Friday, November 13th. Left home ~ we were planning on leaving earlier in the morning but we were up pretty late packing up the cars. So… a 5:00 am departure turned into an 11:00 departure. We still had a lot to pack, and we were taking picture of Wilson and Lilly before leaving. (Wilson is Dustin’s cat and Lilly is Laurie’s)

11:18 am Friday, November the 13th, arrived at Lena’s parent’s house. We had to drop some things off and say good-bye. Ashley made us some wonderful P.B. & J sandwiches and packed us some snacks that really helped us out.

12:21 pm Friday, November 13th, left Lena’s house.

12:58 pm Friday, November 13th, On I-70 and on our way! AHH!

13:55 (1:55 pm) Friday, November 13th, first stop in Limon Colorado. Stopped for gas and Arbys!

20:30 (8:30 pm) in Amarillo, Texas. 1,108 miles to go…..

12:30 am Saturday, November 14th, stopped in Wichita Falls, Texas for the night. Had gone 645 miles.

8:30 am Saturday, November 14th, back on the road. We got a little bit of a late start. We did set the alarm for 6:30 but Lena wasn’t feeling well so we slept in a little while. Stopped at the gas station and got some coffee.

After this we got stopped in Dallas in some horrible traffic. Finally made it through that…yes it was the typical “car stopped on the road, cop car there, EVERONE must slow waaaay down and see what’s going on” traffic jam. There we three of those…on one stretch of road. Once we got through that we stopped at a truck stop with a creepy Santa on the roof singing music.

Got Subway at the truck stop and charger for cell phones. We had one…but it broke. :-(

Back on the road. Lena got cut of numerous times, trucks, cars and even a Semi! Dustin had his fair share too. We tried to look out for each other.

Got stuck in more traffic in Shreveport Louisiana, a car accident that closed down the high way, similar to the mouse trap at home. Yes, it was a mess.

Stopped for gas, paralleled each other with our bright's on to see through the fog, stopped for coffee at McDonald’s after 11:00 pm,…they don’t serve coffee then. Stopped at a gas station and got coffee. Stopped for gas, and Popeye’s. (Saw some really tiny little kittens behind the parking lot that Dustin wouldn’t let Lena take with her)

FINALLY arrived at the townhouse at 2:35 am Sunday, November 15th. (Central time) Got in bed and crashed until 11:00 that morning.

Did we mention that for that entire drive we were in two different cars, and Dustin didn’t have a radio??
